Matamata

After Rotarua we headed for Hobbiton. We thought as we were in NZ and Hobbiton is the only piece of set in the whole country left we thought we'd better visit it, as it may not be there for much longer if the film company get pissy.

Its totally overpriced but its still cool it go where the film was made. The holes are quite old looking now, the tree and lake is prob the most recognisable part along with bag end. The owners of the land are not allowed to do anything to the holes. The film company gave them a really shitty contract whereas they can only show people the site and not touch or change anything. They are not even allowed to plant wild flowers as there are wild flowers in the film. Its safe to say that as soon as i get back im going to watch all the films to spot the locations we have seen. Its a little sad but its such a huge thing over here. People have even proposed at the entrance to bag end.
